Live / Live Virtual Workshop

FamilyFrame Experiential Workshop is a 5.5 credit (ASWB/ACE and NBCC), live in-person or virtual, interactive training built around the 13 core FamilyFrame techniques. This workshop will provide a conceptual introduction to a systemic approach and the FamilyFrame techniques. FamilyFrame offers an introductory orientation session in addition to the workshop, including up to 6-hours of training grounded in experiential activities such as role plays, video modeling, and technique practice using case examples.

Course Overview

FamilyFrame Workshop is a live in-person or virtual, interactive training built around the FamilyFrame techniques. This workshop will provide a conceptual introduction to a systemic approach and the FamilyFrame techniques. The workshop will also include experiential activities such as role plays, self of the therapist activities, and technique practice using case examples.

Learning Objectives

After attending this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the conceptual bases behind the Core Elements of FamilyFrame techniques.
  2. Recognize and differentiate between the Core Elements of Family Therapy.
  3. Express familiarity with observationally coding the FamilyFrame techniques on a five­ point scale as they occur in mock video sessions.
  4. Give examples of how systems thinking can be applied to your work as a treatment provider.
  5. Express the clinical benefits of involving family members in treatment.
  6. List specific treatment techniques for engaging parents/caregivers in treatment.
  7. Define specific techniques for engaging adolescents in family-focused treatment goals.
  8. Recognize the advantages of working with multiple family members in session.
  9. Apply clinical techniques for inviting change in meaning (reframes) among clients.
  10. Apply clinical techniques for stimulating therapeutic interactions among family members in session.
  11. List clinical techniques for coaching families to improve communication and problem­ solving skills in session.

Molly Bobek is a licensed clinical social worker at Partnership to End Addiction. She supports the clinical components of the Family and Adolescent Clinical Technology & Science (FACTS) team’s research projects aiming to support the adoption and sustainability of evidence-based approaches for adolescent substance use.

Molly’s research interests include novel approaches to training and consultation to better equip and support the community-based workforce treating adolescents and their families and promoting relational interventions across the lifespan.

Molly is also on the faculty at the Ackerman Institute for the Family and maintains a private practice providing therapy to families, couples, and individuals.

Completion & Continuing Education (CE) Information

Partnership to End Addiction, [provider number], is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: [dates]. Completion & Continuing Education (CE) Information

  • All participants will be expected to participate in workshop activities in order to receive CE credits.
  • Virtual participants will be required to keep their cameras on for the duration of the workshop in order to receive CE credit. Attendance will be monitored throughout the training.
  • The course evaluation must be completed for participants to be eligible to receive CE credit.
  • Eligible participants will receive CE credit certificates via email within 14 business days. Certificates of completion are distributed by email only.
